- As a child I loved flipping through my mother's cookbooks, admiring pictures of beautifully decorated cakes. My first attempt at cake decorating was at the age of 10, I baked and frosted a cake for my Mum - it was for Mother's Day. However, I did not pursue a career in culinary arts, instead I graduated with a science degree and landed a job with a pharmaceutical company. It was then, I enrolled for a short course in cake decorating. One class led to another and another.... pretty soon I was baking for family and friends. I've been baking for 7 years now. What I love most about baking a cake is being able to decorate the cake afterwards. Creating that special cake, for that special someone or occasion, always gives me great pleasure.
